Rolleston, Newark
The site was acquired with a small semi-derelict cottage. The client had employed 2 previous Architects who failed to obtain planning permission for a replacement dwelling.
The design takes cues externally from vernacular farm buildings but with a contemporary twist.
The interior layout is inverted, with living space at first floor and a glass balcony providing a gallery above the kitchen and dining space below. Dramatic views are achieved across open countryside from the fully glazed gable.
